Tree inspections for Greenlightbeheer
Inspectors worked with paper and GPS notes. Treepin is a tablet app (Next.js + Capacitor) with offline sync, Mapbox maps, and Supabase auth. Inspections: from €50–150 down to €10–30, clients see live insights.

Context
Greenlightbeheer is a specialized tree care service that inspects thousands of trees for municipalities, private landowners, and companies. Inspectors work in the field; managers plan follow-up actions; clients (municipalities) want visibility into their tree inventory.
Problem
Inspectors worked with paper, camera, and GPS notes. No central overview, no per-tree history, no risk prioritization. Data had to be hand-entered, causing errors. Clients couldn't see what was happening. Each inspection cost €50–150 due to inefficiency.
Approach
We examined how fieldwork actually operates: inspectors must work offline, data syncs when they return, maps help with route planning, managers need real-time status. Choice: Next.js webapp (desktop/tablet), Capacitor for offline tablet mode, Supabase for auth + real-time sync, Mapbox for geo-visualization.
Solution
Next.js 16 webapp with React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS. Capacitor 8 for Android tablet app (offline-capable, keep-awake). Supabase backend (PostgreSQL, Auth, RLS, Realtime). Mapbox GL + Leaflet for map visualization. Photo upload via Resend; optional Google Cloud Vision for analysis. Role management (technician/manager/client read-only), audit logs. Stack: Next.js 16 + React 19 + Capacitor 8 + Supabase + Mapbox GL.
Outcome
Greenlightbeheer fully digitizes tree inspections. Inspectors enter data on-site; data syncs in real-time. Cost per inspection dropped from €50–150 to €10–30. Managers see live status and can optimize route planning. Clients (including city of Maldegem) now have an up-to-date, searchable inventory with risk prioritization and automatic follow-up scheduling. Complete audit trail for compliance.
